UVI·eye

Privacy Policy

Applies to the UVI·eye iOS app (including the Apple Watch app and widgets) · Updated 2026-07-23

UVI·eye is a standalone app. The only personal data it handles is your coarse location, used solely to compute the sun's geometry on your device and to fetch the UV index through Apple Weather. We run no backend server, collect none of your data, and use no third-party analytics, telemetry or advertising.

1. The only personal data we handle: location

To compute the sun's elevation and your day's ocular UV curve, the app needs to know roughly where you are. Specifically:

You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services. Features that depend on your current location will then stop working.

2. Where the weather and UV data come from

The app's UV index comes from Apple Weather (WeatherKit), the same source as the system Weather app. To provide this service, Apple processes the requests under its own privacy policy. Apart from Apple's weather service and the system geocoder, the app makes no other network data requests — it connects to no third-party backend and to no server operated by us. See Apple's handling in the Apple Privacy Policy and the Apple Weather data-source notice.

3. Local storage

So the app, Apple Watch and widgets can display in sync and avoid re-fetching, the app keeps a small amount of data on your device:

All of this stays on your device and is never uploaded. Deleting the app removes it.

4. Notifications

If you enable high-risk-window reminders, the app uses iOS local notifications, with content generated on your device. The app uses no remote push and never registers or uploads any device push token.

5. What we do not do

6. Children

UVI·eye is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the app collects no personally identifiable data at all, it treats users of every age the same way.

7. Your rights

Because the app stores none of your personal data on any server, you retain full control without needing to send us access, correction or deletion requests: revoke location access to stop location use, and delete the app to remove all local data. If you still have questions, contact us at the address below.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted prominently in the app or on this site.
